Fountain City Public Library

Your Little Free Community Library
Think Little Free Library but oversized! With a grant from AARP and many generous donations from our community, The Nook Community Library launched in 2020 in an old office space at the auditorium. It quickly outgrew its space and is now in the lower level of the auditorium, where it houses a fantastic collection of books for all ages.
Do I need a library card?
No need for a card. Simply use the book card at the back of each book. Place your name on the card and leave it in the red box for checkout. The library is on the honor system. Please be kind and respectful of all our volunteers and donors by following the rules.
When is the library open?
The library is open whenever city hall is open. Guests are free to browse and check out books. City hall is typically open Monday through Thursday, 9:00 am – 3:30 pm. Staffed hours are subject to change but tend to be Tuesday afternoons from 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm or so.
Drop off/pick up when you're not open?
You can drop materials off in the lobby of city hall Monday thru Thursday from 9:00 AM–3:30 PM in the return bin.
Are you part of other libraries? Like Winding Rivers?
We are a stand alone little free library right now. Our goal is to certainly be one day!

Donations
We will not be accepting any donations until after the construction is completed at the Fountain City Community Center. Please save all your special books until then. You are most welcome to continue to check out books until we are unable to keep the library open, due to various phases of construction. We will keep you informed.
We have received some wonderful donations of books about the Mississippi River. If that is of interest to you, stop by and check them out any time the city building is open. There is an entire wall of paperbacks that can be read over the next summer and winter at your leisure. They do not need to be checked out, but we would like them returned, if possible. They are located on the shelving along the wall in the former kitchen of the auditorium. There are many
great novels etc., arranged by the author, in alphabetical order.
Save your new books for the time that our construction is completed. We need and want current bestsellers. Thank you!
When we do start accepting donations, this is what we are looking for:
Newer releases only, less than 5 years old
No little paperbacks, you know like the mass market 4×7 size.
No encyclopedias, no Time-Life, Readers Digest or the like
Any un-needed books are used for book sales and promotions to raise funds for The Nook 🙂
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!
Please drop your donations at City Hall, 42 N Main St, Fountain City WI 54629. Monetary donations can also be dropped or sent to that address. Please include your mailing address so we can send you a receipt for your monetary donation.
